Karnataka state Congress president Satish Jarkiholi courts controversy over the word ‘Hindu’. Jarkiholi said that the word ‘Hindu’ actually comes from the Persian language and it has a very ‘dirty’ meaning. He said that there should be a comprehensive discussion as to why a foreign word is being forced on us. Rejecting the remark, Congress has termed it ‘deeply unfortunate’.
